Pitcher Hanna Hull – Top College Athlete from Virginia

Former Lady Titan Hanna Hull is about to share a tremendous honor with notable Virginia high school legends Mia Hamm, David Robinson, Alonzo Mourning, Tremaine Edmunds, Tajh Boyd and Dre Bly.

On August 13, 2019, Hanna Hull of the Virginia Wesleyan University softball team will be honored by the Norfolk Sports Club as the General Douglas MacArthur Memorial Award winner denoting her as the Most Outstanding College Athlete who formerly attended a Virginia high school.

The Virginia Wesleyan Marlins Athletics Department released the following information on August 7:

The rising senior played her high school ball at Clover Hill High School located in Midlothian, Va. In 2016 she then arrived on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan where she made an immediate impact for the Marlins.

In her freshman campaign, the lefty hurler spearheaded a run that found the squad claiming the title of NCAA Division III National Champion. She then aided in the team’s second National Title in the following season. Individually, she has been crowned the National Player of the Year twice, the National Freshman of the Year in 2017, a First Team All-American all three seasons as well as a plethora of other awards at the conference, regional and national level.

Her numbers speak for themselves as she has led the country in strikeouts each of the past two years and is one of just 24 Division III players to ever reach the 1,000 career strikeout mark. Her win total has also been impressive as she tied the Division III record for wins in a season with 40 in 2018 and is ranked 18th in total victories (101) with a season still to spare.

Joining Hull at the Jamboree will be keynote speaker David Wright, a Norfolk, Va. native who played for the New York Mets from 2004-14.

Hanna was a recent speaker at the Tuckahoe Sports Annual Lead-Off Banquet and shared her fond memories as a Lady Titans softball team member at TSI. She cited the program’s value in preparing her for a successful college career.

Keep up the great work Hanna! We are all cheering for you.
